Camp Adventureland's first year of operation was in 1970. At that time, an identified need for a composite Cub camp was seen by the Greater Toronto Region Camping Department. A "composite" camp means a camp for youth to mingle with members from other Groups. In other words, your Group does NOT need to attend. Two Composite camps were created – Adventureland and Frontierland. Woodland Trails and Oba-Sa-Teeka were utilized to operate the camps. A driving force behind the creation of Adventureland was Lillian Shadlock, a Scouter from Scarborough and Ken Cooper, Director of the Camping Department. The vision was to create a summer Cub camp similar to Haliburton Scout Reserve but for Cubs. It made sense to operate a camp on Scouting property during the best camping seasons of the year. It made use of our beautiful property and kept the Cub spirit alive during the summer months.
