Welcome to Whispering Pines!
Located on south end of Otty Lake, Whispering Pines is a 21-acre wilderness camp with 20 large, secluded camping sites with drinking water, kybos, a large campfire circle, and a Scouts' Own chapel. The camp is a perfect place for water activities and has access to the Rideau Trail. A hiking trail follows the perimeter of the camp. There is a large selection of pioneering poles in a covered shelter and lots of firewood available. A large field with flag poles is located in the centre of the camp.
*Effective March 17,2023, Camp Whispering Pines, will be accepting bookings up to 1 year in advance on a rolling schedule automatically.
Please note that the cancellation policy terms and conditions remain in effect.
Request to cancel a booking with more than 4 weeks' notice: 20% non-refundable deposit can be transferred to a new booking within the same fiscal year - September 1st to August 31st. (the 20% deposit can not be transferred to a pre-existing booking)
Whispering Pines is a 21-Acre Wilderness camp located near Perth, Ontario with:
- 13 permanent campsites
- a small beach with direct access to Otty Lake
- KYBOs adjacent to most of the camp sites
- a well with ample water production, with water that MUST be treated / filtered before using
- a good-sized open area for games
- 3 hiking trails
- a good-sized amphitheater campfire area that easily seats 50
- a peaceful spot under the pine trees for quiet reflection or as an ideal place for a Scouts own
Please note: ***although the Whispering Pines camp is open, the camp road is not plowed***
Sites can be accessed by hiking in, or by snowmobile.

All bookings with Camp Hughes must be made within a minimum 3 days prior to the desired arrival date
Weekend Overnight bookings are based on a minimum 2 night stay, from Friday arrival to Sunday departure

If you are a third party, like-minded organization and are interested in reserving Whispering Pines Scout Camp, please note that you will be required to submit a Certificate of Insurance naming Scouts Canada as an additional insured on a Comprehensive General Liability insurance policy in force, valid for the full duration of the rental period, in an amount no lesser than $2,000,000; such certificate is required to show any exclusions contained in the policy.
You will also be required to sign a third party rental contract which will be provided to you upon completion of your reservation.
(Girl Guides of Canada groups are exempt from the above noted requirements)
To create your booking with Whispering Pines, please follow the steps outlined below
1. Scroll down the page slightly to locate the facility calendar
2. Select desired item from the Category dropdown menu; for Overnight (Sun-Thurs) bookings, please select the desired number of nights from the Duration dropdown menu
3. If inquiring for a Weekend Overnight (Fri-Sun) booking, please select a Friday arrival to generate availability
3. Upon completing these steps, you will see which assets are available with applicable pricing and capacity numbers
4. Select the Reserve button to add preferences to your cart
5. Kindly proceed through the checkout process!
