Welcome to Camp Manitou!

Managed and operated by Scouts Canada, Camp Manitou rests on 96 acres of the scenic Niagara Escarpment north of Burlington, ON. 

Camp Manitou’s central location to Hamilton, Toronto and the London areas combined with nearby conservation areas and the Bruce Trail offers groups a unique opportunity to provide youth with a full and varied experience

Established and developed by the members of Burlington Area Scouting, in 2018 we will celebrate our 60th year in operation! The camp comprises a blend of open fields, Woodlots and bush that provide an ideal setting for all levels of outdoor Scouting experiences. Camp Manitou offers a wide variety of facilities for groups of all sizes, including.

  • a large, covered picnic shelter
  • a brand new Adirondack (Campsite #12)
  • a ceremonial Cub Council Rock with fire pit and large stage
  • eight private campsites located away from the lodges
  • activity fields
  • water and toilet facilities throughout the camp
  • nature trails
  • tobogganing hill

  • ample parking
  • onsite volunteer camp rangers

  • emergency telephone

Outdoor Programs:

Camp Manitou offers several outdoor programs/facilities that are bookable through this site. Please select “Outdoor Programs” from the Category dropdown menu then book the required date / time slot.

Dunk Tank

The dunk tank is rented by the day. Camp staff will set up and fill the tank and train group leaders on it’s operation. Groups must provide a minimum of 2 supervising adults when the tank is in operation. Activity is fully equipped and you need only supply the victims participants!

Axe Throwing

The axe throwing is rented by the day. Camp staff will set up the target. Groups must provide a minimum of 2 supervising adults. We have axe weights suitable for Cub age through to adults.

Archery

The camp has archery equipment and adequate space to set up an archery range with up to three targets. The groups need to provide a certified range safety officer or, with adequate notice, the camp has several scouters who are certified and could provide that service. The groups need to provide the archery instructors. Currently we have a wide selection of simple bows and will be working towards obtaining additional compound bows for the 2025 season. The range is available for three, three hour time slots:  9:00-12:00; 12:00 – 15:00 and 15:00 – 18:00.

 

Camp Manitou Crests

Manitou crests like the one pictured below are available at the camp for $5. Please let the ranger know quantity required on check in.

 

 

Firewood

The camp has a policy that outside firewood/burnable material must not be brought to camp under any circumstances due to the possible transfer of disease or pests.

Firewood is available at the camp for $20. You can either purchase ahead of time through the registration process or you can purchase from the ranger at camp. Please note that the fee for “Campfire Reservations” is inclusive of the firewood charge and no additional payment is required.

 

Trailer Storage

The camp has started a trial program for the storage of Scout Group trailers at the camp. If the program works as expected then this will become a permanent feature. The following terms apply for trailer storage:

Trailers must belong to Scout Groups, no private trailer storage

Trailer and contents must be insured. The camp will not be responsible for theft / destruction of trailers or the equipment therein.

Rental period is from Sept 1 – Aug 31. No partial year rentals are available.

Annual fee is to be paid prior to trailer coming on site.

Access to trailers for pick up will be on Wed or Thurs evenings with a minimum of 1 weeks notice (or when the camp is open on the weekend).

Return of trailers must be before 2pm on Sunday or, by prearrangement, on the Wed / Thurs evenings

Please note: If you are a 3rd party organization and would like to book Camp Manitou, you will be required  to submit a valid certificate of insurance from your provider once your booking has been submitted. We will also issue you a contract that will need to be completed and return to us prior to you arrival date.

***We are not permitted to rent out our Camps for personal use of any kind. Ie: weddings, anniversaries, reunions, baby/bridal showers, photo shoots etc...

(Girl Guides of Canada groups are exempt from the above noted requirements).

 

**All weekend bookings are based on a 2 night minimum, Friday evening arrival to Sunday early afternoon departure**

*Effective March 16, 2023, Camp Manitou, will be accepting bookings up to 1 year in advance on a rolling schedule automatically.

Please note that the cancellation policy terms and conditions remain in effect.

Request to cancel a booking with more than 4 weeks' notice: 20% non-refundable deposit can be transferred to a new booking within the same fiscal year - September 1st to August 31st. (the 20% deposit can not be transferred to a pre-existing booking)
