Canada’s largest Scout camp, Haliburton Scout Reserve (HSR), is almost 5000 acres (2000 hectares) of Canadian Shield, located in The Haliburton Highlands in Central Ontario. Thirteen lakes and ponds, thirteen sections of rivers and streams, fifteen marshes, and three beaver ponds in varying stages of succession, provide wilderness homes for a large assortment of animals, fish, birds, insects, and a significant variety of trees, shrubs, and plants.
Kennaway Composite program that allows individual youths (age 11-16) to camp at Haliburton Scout Reserve with other youth members who may not be involved in scouting, want to go camping but weren’t able to with their group or just wanted to go camping some more. At Kennaway, youth are in the driver’s seat. They are putting up their own tents, cooking their own meals, and keeping to their schedule (program, activities, meals, etc.). Staff and volunteers (Scouters) will be there to help out, coach, offer guidance, and assist where needed. Youth will be required to bring their own sleeping gear, mess kits, and personal belongings (packing list will be provided).
Youth should have some experience camping before attending as this is semi-wilderness camping. youth will be camping in tents, using kybos, cooking using 3 burner camp stoves, etc.
*YOUTH WILL NOT BE CAMPING IN CABINS OR USING FLUSH TOILETS*
We have three separate weeks available to book for those interested in signing up with Haliburton Scout Reserves composite program and youth do not have to be currently registered in scouting to attend!
